Can I Send My Scarf To Heaven?

I'm going to apologize in advance for all the pictures :) we had fun with this.

My neighbor Suzy learned how to crochet last week and she whipped up 3 scarves like it was nothing. So all of us thought they were super cute and we decided we wanted to make one as well! We went to Michael's and JoAnn's to get yarn and hooks to start our projects. Suzy's friend, Lexi, came to our room to teach us how to crochet.
As she gave us instructions, we all followed along!
 Look at that concentration ;)

So far so good! :)
This was my first try... notice how its wide at the bottom and skinny at the top.
This annoyed the crap out of me so I pulled it apart and started over again! Ha!

I finally started to get the hang of it :)

Working on my scarf before the hockey game!
Making progress.... :)

I wasn't the only one working on a scarf like I mentioned earlier. Here are some pictures of my friends that also did scarves :)

We are all basically pros now at crocheting :)

Here's my final product!!!!

Next I would like to make a head band because I have always been into the thick-headband look!

The reason this blog is so important to me is because Saturday night, November 17, 2012 my Grandma Kathy Roman passed away. I remember her teaching my sisters and I how to crochet so many times. It was always such a good time! November 17 is when I finished my first scarf. I wish I could have gotten the chance to show her! She would have been so impressed with it! I plan on showing her at her funeral on Wednesday. I know that I have a special angel looking over me now and I will continue to crochet to make her proud. I think God kept her alive until I finished that scarf. It amazes me.
 Rest in Peace.

I'm a Big Girl Now!

So being in college has made me realize something... I am ALWAYS TIRED! I nap every chance I get, I sleep in late whenever I don't have an early class. It's just like I can never escape this tired feeling!! One night, at about 10 PM, my roommate and I had a bunch of classes to study for and we were feeling really tired. So we decided we would go to our neighbor's room and ask to borrow her coffee maker. (At this point, I had no idea coffee would work this well) My roommate and I made a pot of coffee and drank it all. HAHA! We didn't get to sleep until about 3 that night. So stupid! :)
I realized though, that I liked coffee (with added creamer) and it worked well for me! When I went home last weekend my Mama bought me a cheap little 5-cup maker and some coffee and creamer! Now I have made it every morning. I feel much more awake throughout my day! It's amazing!
Here are some pics from my FIRST COFFEE MAKING EXPERIENCE! :)
See, just a small little coffee pot that fits perfectly up on my desk :)
My little container of Folgers- French Vanilla of course ;)
Measuring out how much I need... Trust me I was so confused, I had to ask my neighbor for help because I didn't want to screw it up :)
 My mini filter

Living in a dorm, you have to get the water from the water fountain... haha!
Me and my three cups worth :)
 Dumping the water in!
Had to get a picture of my awesome cup of course!!
LOOK! I'm making real COFFEE!!! YAY!
 MY FIRST POT OF COFFEE!!!!!!!!
The creamer I had to add! It was delicious!!
Walking to class, feeling great, with my first cup of coffee :)

8 Things They Didn't Tell You..

It's the summer after senior year and you are getting ready for college... you may think you have done enough research to have it all figured out. Well, you are wrong. Here are 8 things that people don't tell you about college that you NEED TO KNOW!

1) You are going to be homesick! The first month is going to be sucky and you are going to want to go home, trust me. But, just stay and get to know people! Go do things outside your room that will take your mind off of your family and the things you miss back in your hometown. Don't be the debbie-downer that no one wants to be around because you sit around and mope.

2) The food is hard to adjust to! It's going to make you sick, your stomach will hurt, and you are going to feel like crap for the first few weeks if you eat in the food courts. It gets better though!! Your stomach will adjust and you will be fine once you get passed that "crappy" stage! The food can actually be pretty good! Another thing... just because you have the choice to eat fries and pizza for every meal does not mean you should eat it every day!! Don't be stupid, eat healthy meals if you want to avoid the Freshman 15!

3) No one cares about what you did in high school! No one cares if you were top 10 in your class or president of student council or you were a three sport athlete. High school doesn't matter! It's harsh, but it's the truth. Chances are your neighbors or friends that you meet did just as many things in high school and no one wants to hear you ramble on about your achievements.

4) No one makes you go to class... don't be the idiot that shows up once a month. You don't want to be the loser that doesn't know what's going on in class. Trust me, GO TO CLASS! It will help you do better on exams and quizzes! It's easy to sleep through your 8 AM, just roll out of bed and go, then you can nap after class. It's really not that bad! Don't forget that every single class counts towards your GPA..

5) Know an interesting fact about yourself! You will be asked about 10 times in your first two weeks at school to "share an interesting fact about yourself"! It's a professors way of "getting to know you". It's stupid but you don't want to be the one sitting there saying "um.... umm...." ha!

6) Don't forget to pack the little stuff! You are going to want a finger nail clipper, kleenexs, febreze, dish soap, q-tips, etc! Those are little things you can easily forget about! But they are important to have!! You don't want to be the gross one who doesn't wear shower sandals. Make sure you have everything. It's not the end of the world if you forget something, there are usually close stores that carry these kinds of things.

7) You have to get out of your room to get to know people! Sitting in your room all day means you will probably not make many friends. People aren't going to just come around and open your door and start talking to you. Keep your door open all the time (unless you are changing or sleeping) because it's inviting for people to stop in and talk to you. Be the one who goes around and visits people in their rooms and talk to them! Get to know people- be SOCIAL!! Also, attend hall activities!! They might be something dorky, but still GO! It usually ends up being pretty fun and again- you will meet more people!

8) All I have to say about partying, is don't be stupid. You don't want to be out of control and obnoxious so no one wants to be around you. And yes, cops will give you an underage if you are stumbling around on the streets! Don't think that just because you aren't at a house party that you won't get caught. Just saying, think about what you are doing!

Living in a Dorm

Living in a dorm is crazy! WOW! For those of you who do not know, I go to school at UW- Stevens Point. I'm pursuing Special Education.

This is my new home!

I have been living in the dorm for almost two months now and have gotten to know so many people!
I live on a co-ed floor (guys and girls) and my neighbors are the BEST! Crazy at times but still fun!!
I have gotten the chance to do so many new things while I have been here...

Living in a tiny little space when there is so much stuff for two girls was hard to adjust to. We usually aren't too cluttered so that's nice! Here are some pictures from my room!

Yes, I carved my first pumpkin ever!! It was sooo much fun! I did it with some of my friends here and it was a long process but the product in the end was so worth it :) We also ate the cooked seeds when we were done-- YUMMY!

I also got the chance to dress up with my roommate Emmalee Statz! We won the costume contest for our hall! We went to walmart and found these costumes for pretty cheap. They are so perfect for us! Mario and Luigi!

My birthday was on October 24th and I was having a pretty decent day. I went to class as usual and didn't do much out of the ordinary. Until after Bible Study when I came back to my room to find most of my neighbors and friends piled into my room!! It was such a SURPRISE! :) I was so happy! They had a cake and balloons for me. It really was something to remember!

Not a great picture, but these are all my neighbors and a few friends who were cramped into my tiny room!

I got my first Henna Tattoo! Henna is a plant that is used to dye your skin. In the lobby they were giving out free tattoos of whatever you wanted so of course I wanted to try it out!
Pretty cool, right? :)

GETTING MAIL IS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD!
I have gotten a few packages and it totally changes your day! I've gotten things from cereal to hot chocolate to hemorrhoid wipes ;) It's always so great to open something from a family member or friend.

LOVE IT! :)

And last but not least, living with someone! I love my roommate! We knew each other before we came here and I'm so thankful for that! We weren't super close friends before so we figured we wouldn't get sick of each other real quick. It's hard because you are ALWAYS with someone! She's someone I can always talk to no matter what.

Thanks for checking out my blog! I will definitely be posting more! :)
